Festival Sunday. Films from the Cinematic Fringes in Lost Lost Lost section

11th US+Canada in Progress Winners Announced

The fourth annual Lost Lost Lost section takes you to the fringes of cinema, following alternative perspectives, formal searches and unusual micro-tales.

These are films made in previous years by those with the courage to step out of the mainstream of dominant trends - both in cinema and in reality. They boldly turn the camera toward what is often easily overlooked, in favor of searching the periphery, geographically and aesthetically.

How is cinema reacting to the latest developments in the US?

Huge divisions, along with a tremendous mobilization of voters. Quarrels, scandals, court battles, but also swallows of hope for a better future. In recent times, Americans certainly could not complain about boredom - the modern United States is a theater of extremely intense cultural and social convulsions. How do US filmmakers portray their country's recent history? Today, we invite you to the third meeting of the Film Discussion Club. Together with Katarzyna Czajka-Kominiarczuk (the Zwierz popkulturalny blog), Dorota Warakomska (an outstanding journalist), Maciej Nowicki (Vice-President of the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, director of the Watch Docs Festival) and Urszula Śniegowska (artistic director of the American Film Festival), we will talk about contemporary American movies from the USA, starting at 9 PM on the Filmawka Facebook profile.

An excellent starting point for the conversation are the films presented in the Spectrum and American Docs sections, which feature stories about the USA that you will not find in the mainstream media.

Watch meetings with filmmakers on the New Horizons website

We also encourage you to watch the conversations with directors whose films feature in this year's festival program. Watch 21 different videos, including conversations with Alexandre Rockwell, Filip Jan Rymsza, Janis Rafa, Kris Ray and Ágnes Kocsis, on our platform. All are available free of charge - just log in or create your account on the website at nowyhoryzonty.pl.
