2024 US in Progress Partners – Thank you! The 15th American Film Festival: thank you!

American Film Festival in Wrocław has ended last Monday; during the event more than 100 features were presented, as well as over a dozen accompanying events, one of which was 14th edition of US in Progress program, connecting American filmmakers and European film professionals & Polish co-production companies.

Miles Levin’s drama Under the Lights received the coveted Polish Film Institute Award at the event, as well as $50,000 cash prize for post-production in Poland. “I’m so honored to have produced it and for it to be part of U.S. in Progress. There’s nothing like this program in America, so we are very grateful it exists. It’s much needed for American indie filmmakers.” said Natalie Metzger, VP of production and development at Vanishing Angle.

The 14th edition of the program took place from November 7th till 9th. Each of the winning films, which are all works in progress, were eligible for post-production services sponsored by the program’s partners.

This year’s program also included panels, discussions and one-on-one meetings between Polish and American producers with the goal of inspiring co-productions and future partnerships. Especially insightful was How Can You Do with Poland panel during which producer Ewa Puszczyńska presented A Real Pain case study – explaining the details od Polish-American production process.

Jesse Eisenberg, the director of the movie, was also present at the festival, receiving Indie Star Award for his accomplishment in independent filmmaking.
