16th TAURON American Film Festival: thank you!

We know the winners of the 16th TAURON American Film Festival in Wrocław

Our festival neighborhood seemed endless: for nearly a week, AFF settled into the New Horizons Cinema, and until yesterday, it lived under your roofs as well, thanks to the online screenings. But every suburbia — even the largest — has its borders, and today we’ve reached the final lines that frame the 16th edition. But! When we look back, we can honestly say that together we built something truly special. So before we say “see you soon,” we first want to bow to you and say a heartfelt “thank you!”

The construction of the AFF suburbs was a long and intricate process, and it comes with an equally long list of people to thank. We take this as a compliment: the remarkable community that supports the festival is proof that dreaming our American dream together is not only worthwhile, but necessary.

We would like to begin with our most important neighbors: you, our beloved audience. Thank you for your laughter during Freaks & Geeks screenings, for the curiosity you brought to Politics on Screen, for the warmth with which you welcomed Susan Seidelman, Alexandre O. Philippe, and our other AFF guests, for practicing festival democracy while voting in the competitions, for the hours spent talking, and dancing, in the corridors of New Horizons, and finally, for opening your homes to us during the online edition. As the AFF collective, we speak with one voice: we envy ourselves for having you, we already miss you, and we can’t wait for the 17th edition.

And speaking of the collective: without you, Dear Volunteers, there would be no team. We are grateful that we could create a space for hands-on learning, but (we know, we’re not reinventing America here) the truth is that you continually teach us empathy, creativity, and attentiveness. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We would like to express our gratitude to the patron of the American Film Festival — the Municipality of Wrocław. Building festival suburbs in such a warm and open-minded city is a pure pleasure.

Special thanks go to the TAURON Group, which took us under its wing and brought fresh energy to the entire event. Dear Title Partner, it was a dream beginning to a beautiful journey.
