US In Progress General Info

Experiences in Transcontinental Co-production Round Table with Zach Nutman, Andrew Hevia, Jay Van Hoy, Monique Walton, and Stephanie Wilcox

Organized by the New Horizons Association and running annually since 2011 in the framework of the American Film Festival in Wroclaw, US in Progress is a unique annual film industry event connecting American independent filmmakers and European film professionals and fostering co-production with Poland. The event also presents Polish co-production opportunities and benefits. 

US in Progress aims to develop trans-Atlantic film industry collaborations and partnerships. The event helps European film professionals to establish working relationships with new emerging American film talent in a safe and friendly environment and its objective is to sign distribution and post-production deals. The program also presents benefits and opportunities of co-production with Poland.

US in Progress presents 6-10 independent American narrative projects in progress (20 minutes of footage with a filmmaker/producer in attendance). Invite only screenings are attended by a select group of:

The program's objective is to help US-based independent filmmakers complete their projects and to support the circulation and distribution of American and Canadian indie films in Europe.

Formal one to one talks and informal meetings facilitate further networking and exchange. A professional jury selects the best projects to be awarded with post-production and distribution packages from our partners and sponsors and/or cash awards, including $50,000 in Polish Film Institute Director’s cash Award for post in Poland and $50,000 in partners’ in-kind post services.

The projects are selected from online call for entries.

General application requirements for the films are as follows:

  • Production company needs to be US based.
  • Projects looking for post-production financing, services as well as for sales agents or European distribution should apply.
  • Projects with at least 20 minutes of the footage edited (submission requirement).
  • Films with NO premiere or European sales representation prior to the presentation are eligible.
