Tickets, Passes

What is Open Ticket?

We've all been there: can I get a last minute ticket to a show that's already sold out? The goal of Open Ticket service (OT) is to efficiently make use of all the available seats in the screening room.

How it works?

OT is essentially a pre-paid card that you can charge via cash or debit card payments at the festival ticket office. OT card owners can scan their cards when entering the screening room – at the exact time the movie starts – and proceed to any available seat (including unused reserved seats, if there are any).

How else can I use Open Ticket?

OT is not just an option for those waiting for available seats at the most popular screenings – you can also use the OT card to purchase tickets to any show that is not yet sold out.

When will Open Ticket sales begin?

Open Ticket cards will be available at the festival box offices from noon on 6 November.

Does Open Ticket guarantee admission to the screening?

Open Ticket gives you the chance to attend a sold-out screening, but does not guarantee it. Admission to the screening is subject to availability and is typically granted during the final spots. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding.

Who should I contact to use the Open Ticket queue for a specific screening?

Please inform the theatre coordinator if you wish to attend a specific screening. This person is also responsible for coordinating the OT queues – they know where they start, can provide information on ticket prices and will clarify any doubts regarding this option. It is always a good idea to make certain that you are queuing for the correct screening and to ask about the location of available seats – these are often in the front or side rows. Once you enter the screening, the theatre staff will direct you to your seat.

When can I take my place in the Open Ticket queue?

Queuing is only the first step. Remember that you cannot queue for a screening other than the current one. If you want a seat for a sold-out screening during the third block, you can only take your place in the queue just before that block; you cannot queue during the first or second block.

When do I enter the theatre?

The screening start time is the approximate start time of the film block. The actual time at which OT users are admitted to the theatre depends on various factors, such as seat availability, the length of the trailers and the theatre’s occupancy rate.

Can I reserve a place in the queue?

Wishing to secure a place, please do not leave the OT queue. You can only reserve a place for someone who is not present and with whom you want to attend the screening, if possible, after informing the room coordinator and other people in the queue.

Before joining the OT queue, please check if you have sufficient funds on your card to cover the ticket cost for the screening (prices may vary depending on the film).

Can I reserve a seat in the theatre for someone who is in the OT queue?

Reserving an additional seat by a person with a ticket or pass/accreditation who is already inside the theatre for someone in the Open Ticket queue means that this seat will not be included in the pool of seats available to OT users. Seats available under OT must be occupied in person.

What is the difference between a festival pass and an Open Ticket card? Do they work similarly?

A festival pass and an Open Ticket card are two different options for attending screenings. Once the pool of seats for pass/accreditation holders has been exhausted, the only way to take part in a screening is with an Open Ticket card.
