In this black comedy clearly bowing down to Hal Ashby’s Harold and Maud, a young but widowed depressed cantor Ben (Jason Schwartzman) meets his childhood singing teacher (Carol Kane), who asks him to prepare her for a belated Bat mitzva and turns his world upside down.

Nathan Silver graduated from the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts. Having directed several full-length films, Silver is an honorable creator of American independent cinema. „The New Yorker” called him a modernistic master of melodrama. His films were presented at the festivals in Edinburgh, Vienna, at the Slamdance Film Festival, the Tribeca Film Festival and others. Silver usually combines improvisation and documentary techniques to portray his characters in an intimate and authentic way. He is influenced by Dostoyevsky, Mike Leigh, Eric Rohmer and Andrzej Żuławski.
