Booger Red

Berndt Mader, USA 2015, 96’
subtitles: Polish and English
WORLD PREMIERE

In 2006, Texas convicted seven defendants of organizing a child prostitution ring in a swingers club. Years later, this slimy story ends up on the desk of cynical reporter Onur (Onur Tukel), who initially rejects it, but ultimately, he and an unexpected guest, the wife of his dead bother (Marija Karan), travel through Texas to investigate. They find new witnesses, expose shocking facts and learn the truth contradicts the official story. Meanwhile, Onur becomes the subject of a private investigation about his past and his guilty conscience and emotional baggage weigh him down. Berndt Mader's film is a successful hybrid of fiction and documentary that touches on injustice and corruption in the American justice system. It is also a story about the millstone of memories that remain equally palpable as surrounding reality.
