It's Christmas Eve and Sin-Dee Rella is finally coming home after 20 years in the slammer. But her best friend Alexandra soon breaks the news that Sin-Dee's boyfriend-pimp Chester has been cheating. Furious and hungry for vengeance Sin-Dee and Alexandra, both transgender prostitutes, tear across town in a search for the cheater and his cisgender love dove, Dinah. An innocent Armenian taxi driver and his crazy mother-in-law (who hopes to finally expose her allegedly dishonest son-in-law) get mixed up in this wild jealousy-fueled tale.Sean Baker's plot surprisingly blends a Christmas story and road movie, which begin with a donut shop conversation. Baker constantly shifts conventions and shows LA's succulently seedy underbelly ruled by tongue-in-cheek stars. The film was shot using three iPhones 5s. IndieWire's Eric Kohn writes, Baker once again manages to match underrepresented faces in American cinema with material that lets their personalities shine.

Sean Baker
He is a film and television director and screenwriter. He holds a B.A. in Film from New York University. Baker debuted in 2000 with Four Letter Words. His third feature-length film Prince of Broadway garnered the Grand Jury Prize at the Los Angeles Film Festival and the Special Jury Prize at Locarno IFF (2008). Tangerine, Baker's latest feature premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and received the Independent Camera award at Karlovy Vary IFF.
