In a six-episode documentary television series based on years of investigative journalism, Andrew Jarecki and Mark Smerling, focus on controversial and mysterious heir Robert Durst, involved in a series of events beginning with the disappearance of his wife Kathleen in 1982. Durst was accused of two more murders, but never convicted. For years, Jarecki has been fascinated with the man and the events, resulting in his 2010 fictional feature All Good Things. The documentary series continues and develops what the fiction film began. The director uses the entire spectrum of documentary techniques, including never before seen archive materials and photographs, complemented with voiceover, talking heads and reenactments. His biggest prize , however, is Durst himself, who, after 30 years of silence, decides to tell his version of this unsolved mystery.

Andrew Jarecki is an American director, producer and musician. He is a graduate of Princeton University. Jarecki debuted in 2003 with the documentary Capturing the Friedmans, which garnered him an Oscar nomination and a series of festival awards. In 2010, he released his feature-length fiction debut, All Good Things, starring Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst, inspired by the story of Robert Durst, a subject Jarecki decided to continue exploring.
