Lily Gladstone shines in Erica Tremblay's debut feature, which premiered at the Sundance FF earlier this year. In this coming-of-age with a crime story vibe, a Native American woman kidnaps her niece from her white grandparents in hopes of finding her mother and preparing the girl on time for a traditional ceremony.
Erica Tremblay, an American screenwriter and director from the Seneca-Cayuga tribe, grew up in Missouri, then moved to Nebraska. Erica's films often deal with ethnicity and sexuality, especially that of young people. Co-funded by the Cherokee Film Fund, Fancy Dance, her feature debut, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, just like her short, Little Chief.
