Set during the Great Depression, this romcom is an adaptation of Vera Caspary’s work. May and June, two young women, arrive in New York with no money or formal education, relying only on their beauty and sharp wit. Staying at a budget hotel, they embark on a quest to conquer the city.

Dorothy Arzner

Dorothy Arzner was a pioneering director, producer, and lecturer in women's cinema. Raised in Los Angeles, she built her career during the classical Hollywood era, working at Paramount and RKO, and later as an independent filmmaker. She was the first woman to join the American Directors Guild and directed sixteen feature films in her career. Known for her ability to create stars, she worked with icons like Clara Bow, Katharine Hepburn, and Joan Crawford. Arzner specialized in romantic comedies and melodramas and made a lasting impact on cinema history with films like Dance, Girl, Dance.
