Take Your Bags

Camille Billops, USA 1998, 11’
The KKK Boutique Ain’t Just Rednecks A String of Pearls

Billops tells her grandson what happened to the things that slaves transported from Africa to America took with them. An officer greeted them with the words: I will take your bags, with the assurance that the belongings will be returned to them on the spot. Eventually, pictures, maps and masks ended up in museums.
