Director and producer Maggie Contreras graduated from Boston University and George Washington University. She began her career as a theatrical actress in London, later she played in episodes in television series (including Criminal Minds and Colony), and ultimately settled on directing various documentary forms: short and full-length films, and social campaigns. Maestra is her directorial debut.
