A play written by students from New Orleans serves as both self-therapy and a call to action. It challenges the authorities' inertia in addressing the wave of sexual violence at American colleges. The documentary offers an intimate and sensitive portrayal of the struggle the students undertook to break the silence surrounding rape culture and the patriarchal systems that perpetuate it.
Katie Mathews is a New York-based director, screenwriter, and producer who graduated from Northwestern University and CUNY-Hunter College. Her work often tackles social change and environmental issues, with a focus on their human consequences. Mathews says her films, My films take audiences on intimate journals through life's transitions. She has worked with institutions like the Smithsonian and „National Geographic” and produced the award-winning Mossville (directed by Alex Glustrom). In 2022, Mathews received the Princess Grace Award for Film. Roleplay marks her full-length documentary debut.
