This is a dramedy about Reality Winner, convicted of leaking a classified report on Russia's influence in the US presidential election. Susanna Fogel approaches the story with humor and irony, avoiding taking sides in the public debate. Instead, she highlights the private life and vibrant personality of Winner, adding layers to the whistleblower's biography.
Susanna Fogel is a director, screenwriter, and author. A graduate of Columbia University, she has written for The New Yorker and in 2017 published her novel Nuclear Family: A Tragicomic Novel in Letters. Her directorial debut was Life Partners, which she co-wrote with Joni Lefkowitz. She also co-created the ABC Family series Chasing Life. Fogel co-wrote the highly praised comedy Booksmart with Emily Halpern, Sarah Haskins, and Katie Silberman, earning them a BAFTA nomination. Her most recent films, Cat Person and Winner, both premiered at Sundance.
