Marie Losier was born in France but spent almost half her life in New York. She studied literature at the University of Nanterre and art at Hunter College in New York. Fascinated by alternative and avant-garde art, she focuses on portraying people from these circles in her films. Her full-length debut, a portrait of radical artists Genesis Breyer P-Orridge and Lady Jaye, premiered at the Berlin Festival and won several awards.
