The locksmith Manglehorn, a former football coach, lives somewhere in BFE, Texas. At work he cuts copies of keys and opens locked cars while living in total emotional and social seclusion. His son, Jacob, works in the big city and calls him only when he has to. His wife left after their divorce and only Fanny remains to offer her feline emotional support. Manglehorn has a ritual, during which he daily writes a letter to Clara, with whom he was in love many years ago, but has not been in touch since. He frequently runs into Dawn, a warm and easygoing cashier, but never gets the idea to take her out to dinner. Until. Using his unique style, David Gordon Green tells a story about the prisons we build for ourselves and the emotional ageing that sometimes outpaces its physical counterpart. Manglehorn had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and its American premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
