In theory, A Star Is Born is a typical rags-to-riches story. The incredibly talented but unassuming Ally (Lady Gaga) has a chance encounter with a country star at a local bar (Bradley Cooper). Despite their differences, they fall in love and decide to go on tour together. Her feelings provide inspiration and motivation, not to mention launching a great career. For him, this is perhaps the beginning of the end. Making his directorial debut, Cooper rounds out this well-known cinematic story with his own experiences and observations. In the title role, he casts an artist who knows better than anyone what it's like to become a huge star in just a few months. As a result, the film can be seen as a poignant documentary, far removed from clichés and easy answers. In the title role, Lady Gaga provides a truly outstanding performance, but the story is an amazing tour de force for Cooper. Perhaps nobody expected that the actor from Hangover would be able to spark this kind of energy and show genuine pain and longing in a convincing way.
