After directing touching stories about tragic lovers fleeing from the law, ghosts and green dragons, David Lowery, one of the most interesting young American directors, once again proves that his next step can never be predicted. That is maybe except for the obligatory casting of his favorite actor Casey Affleck, whom he recently wrapped in a sheet in A Ghost Story; now he makes him chase Robert Redford. This charming movie based on a true story is the acting swan song of golden-haired cinematic legend, the unforgettable Sundance Kid and Jeremiah Johnson - if you believe the rumors. This time, Redford plays a completely new version of Robin Hood, who still robs banks in his advanced age with a smile on his lips while donning an elegant hat, with graying Danny Glover and Tom Waits as accomplices. His goal is not to give money to the poor, but for the love of the game. He also manages to seduce Sissy Spacek (and his audience) over a cup of steaming coffee.
