Quantum Cowboys
A parable about a journey by two friends through the Wild West in which a western intertwines with science fiction and scientific documentary, featuring live action shots and animation. Geoff Marslett’s fascinating film patchwork was awarded, among others, at the International Animated Film Festival in Annecy.
“I want people to feel a little bit of what it’s like to be in Arizona. The experience of two people doing something is different because of that space they’re sitting in. This movie’s very much about sitting in that space of Arizona. I think there’s more difference in sitting where I am in Ithaca, New York now, and sitting in Tucson, Arizona, than sitting in Tucson, Arizona in 1973 or 1873, that space pulls those time periods together,” Marslett explains.

Geoff Marslett
Geoff Marslett is a director, writer, producer, animator and actor. His career started with the punk rock animated short Monkey vs. Robot before directing two narrative films MARS and Loves Her Gun, as well as producing on and acting in the experimental feature documentary Yakona. He has appeared onscreen in films like Thou Wast Mild and Lovely and Tombstone Rashomon and even a TV guest staring role as the unibomber. He currently resides in Austin, Texas and Boulder, Colorado splitting his time between filmmaking and teaching. His work has won awards at numerous festivals.
