US in Progress Polish Projects Selection Announced

US in Progress 2022 awards

The tenth edition of the US in Progress co-production forum will be held online from November 11th to 13th 2020 , as a part of the 11th edition of the American Film Festival in Wrocław. In 2020 the festival will be running from November 5-15th in conjunction with the 20th New Horizons International Film Festival in an online formula. Nine American projects in post-production will take part in the programme and will be judged by Polish partners offering post-production services as well as Polish Film Institute representatives. The Polish Film Institute doubled their award and is now granting $10,000 to a project for post-production in Poland.

In collaboration with the Polish Producers Alliance four Polish projects in the development stage seeking partners from the US will be presented. The following Polish projects will be analysed and discussed by American experts:

  • Borderline, directed by Katarzyna Rosłaniec, produced by Piotr Kobus, Agnieszka Drewno (Mañana)
  • How to Be Loved, directed by Borys Lankosz, produced by Marcin Dorociński, Anna Świątek (Salto Films)
  • Unpaved, directed by Mikael Lypinski, produced by Małgorzata Kozioł (Eastbeast),
  • Uprising, directed by Youssef Ouarrak, produced by Dariusz Tokarz (Cave Wolf Pictures).

The Polish-American Co-production meetings will also feature presentations of Polish co-production incentives, as well as two panel discussions hosted by Deadline’s Tom Grater.

The first panel will feature experienced Polish producer, Ewa Puszczyńska (Cold War, Ida), Dylan Leiner (Sony Pictures Classics), Maren Olson and Kat Moncrief from CAA, as well as Derek Kigongo from Paradigm Talent Agency and will discuss challenges of transatlantic collaboration. The second panel is a case study of Jan Komasa’s Academy Award-nominated Corpus Christi with Hilda Somarriba (PrismMedia), Anna Kot (Aurum Film) and Ewa Bojanowska (New Europe Film Sales).

US in Progress is organized with the support of The Polish Film Institute and Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, American Embassy and in partnership with the Polish Producers Alliance and Wroclaw Film Commission.
