Friday is the perfect time to start your Midnight Madness.
The program includes a trip (figuratively and literally) to Mexico, a meeting with a shoe fetishist who became Prime Minister of Canada, a libertine invasion of the English countryside, an intruder's attack on the vocal cords and a trip to a nudist campsite. It will be a beautiful start to the weekend.
Since Midnight Madness has already appeared on the menu, today's online house party with New Horizons and the American Film Festival will be a perfect complement to all the films in this section. The program features a lot of good music and many other attractions. We will connect live via Zoom (free application download here). Note! Places are limited, first-come-first-served.
What is it like to be a bird? What is the world like from the shellfish point of view? How do you tell stories from the livestock perspective? During today's meeting of the Filmawki club we will talk about film portraits of relationships between animals and people. The discussion will be attended by: Ewa Szabłowska (Nowe Horyzonty programmer) and Sebastian Smoliński (film critic). We start at 6:00 p.m. on the Facebook profile of Filmawka.
On the final day of the festival, we invite you to enjoy a broadcast of the closing gala of the 20th New Horizons and 11th American Film Festival. On Sunday evening, we will find out which titles from the New Horizons International Competition and the Spectrum and American Docs sections appealed to the festival audience the most. We will also get to know the Grand Prix winner selected from among the films presented in the NH competition and the awards for the youngest filmmaker presenting a film at the festival; the sponsors of the award are Grażyna Błęcka-Kolska and Jan Jakub Kolski. The gala broadcast begins on November 15 at 6:00 p.m. on the New Horizons Facebook profile.
The winner will be selected by a jury consisting of Dorota Lech (programmer of the Toronto International Film Festival), Krzysztof Skonieczny (director), Monika Strzępka (theater director), Klaudia Śmieja (film producer) and Greg Zgliński (director, screenwriter, cinematographer).
The sponsor of the award in the American Docs competition is BNY Mellon.
Last chance to enter the competition.
Together with the sponsor of this year's festival — NEONET — and Xiaomi Poland, we are organizing a competition for the best view of your home screenings! All you have to do is take a photo, make a recording or present any graphic form of how you spend New Horizons and the American Film Festival at home — what you wear, what you eat, what rituals you have. The prize is the Xiaomi flagship smartphone, the Mi10T 128 GB PRO. Your competition entry should be published on your Facebook or Instagram profile, in your feed or in Instastories, tagging the following profiles: NEONET, Xiaomi Polska, Nowe Horyzonty and American Film Festival.
The competition runs November 4-14. We will announce the competition winner on November 15.
The rules of the competition are available here.
