It’s our fifteenth edition, and our slogan still holds true—we invariably present “all states of cinema” at the American Film Festival. American cinema is as vast and varied as the country itself: brimming with bold, wildly creative, and unique stories, which we’ve delighted in showcasing at New Horizons Cinema since 2010.
Today, we begin a week of birthday celebrations (November 5-11 on-site, with an extended run online until November 17). The best gift we could ask for is you – our intelligent, curious audience, in love with great cinema. So let’s raise a birthday toast and get the party started!
Tickets for the festival’s opening screening of The Brutalist are sold out (though we recommend grabbing an Open Ticket card), but you can still catch five other films today at New Horizons Cinema (KNH), along with dozens more available online. On the KNH screens tonight: Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story (6:45 pm), Between the Temples (7:00 pm) Blue Sun Palace (7:30 pm), Johnny Guitar (7:45 pm), and Longlegs (10:00 pm).
Invite the festival home: online screenings
From 10:30 pm to midnight, join us for an Election Night Studio, where we will discuss the U.S. election campaign and explore possible future scenarios for the United States. Jan Pelczar (Radio RAM) and distinguished guests will be waiting for you in Screening Room 3 at the New Horizons Cinema. Admission is free—no seat reservations or tickets required. Just bring your questions and head straight to the room.
Are election emotions getting the best of you? Unwind with a cold drink at our Festival Club, which this year has made its home at Rumbar and Texico in the Pokoyhof Passage, just a two-minute walk from the New Horizons Cinema. Chilly November weather got you down? Warm up with a menu of gourmet and hot dishes. Plus, show your festival ticket, pass, or accreditation from this year’s AFF to enjoy a 10% discount on all menu items.
It doesn’t get any closer than this—unless you have a time machine (we’re working on it). JFK Memento offers a unique opportunity to dive into history and witness one of the most significant events in modern U.S. history: the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The VR Experience opens tomorrow, but you can secure your tickets now.
Here’s what we can reveal: it’s going to be an amazing film at a fantastic venue, with some equally exciting extras. You can read a bit more about the secret screening here (though we’ll be honest—not too much more). Invitations will be distributed at the New Horizons Cinema festival box office by a designated staff member, easy to spot by their distinctive outfit. Distribution times are as follows: November 5 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, November 6 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and November 7 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Seats are limited, but we’re making sure there’s a chance to get an invitation on each date. Each person can pick up a maximum of two invitations.
36 screenings at New Horizons Cinema, along with the first meetings with filmmakers, the start of the Reading America literary series, the opening of the exhibition Marcin Giżycki and his America, stand-up comedy, and most importantly: a visit from our special guest Jesse Eisenberg, who will preview the screening of A Real Pain at 5:30 pm and receive the Indie Star Award. Following the screening, he will participate in a conversation with Marta Bałaga. And all this on just the second day of the festival!
