The TAURON Group and the American Film Festival extend their partnership

Call for Entries: the 17th AFF Invites U.S. Filmmakers to Wrocław

The good energy that helped us showcase all the states of cinema last year will continue to power us this Fall. The TAURON Group is extending its partnership with the American Film Festival — together with the company, we invite you to the 17th TAURON American Film Festival. The unique event will take over Wrocław’s New Horizons theatre from November 17 to 22, and continue online until December 6.

The TAURON Group, one of the leaders of Poland’s energy sector, is among the key partners of the New Horizons Association — the festival’s main organizer. In addition to supporting the American Film Festival, the company became title partner of the TAURON New Horizons Festival this year, while continuing to champion high-quality cinema for young audiences through the TAURON Young Horizons Festival.

Last year’s AFF partnership helped put together a diverse program featuring as many as 137 titles, as well as allow attendance of more than a few dozen of outstanding filmmakers and film industry representatives from the United States, ultimately resulting in impressive audience attendance. The energy brought by the TAURON team not only produces tangible results, but also plays a crucial role in fulfilling the AFF mission: presenting bold, auteur-driven cinema that challenges stereotypes and highlights aspects of American reality often overlooked by mainstream media and multimillion productions.

Our collaboration with the New Horizons Association has been developing naturally and now encompasses three festivals that speak to audiences and their different needs. We support the American Film Festival in recognition of access to bold auteur cinema and genuine cinematic emotions the festival offers to Polish audiences. We’re delighted to contribute our good energy to the experience — both in cinemas and through online screenings, says Justyna Łukawska, Executive Director of Communications at TAURON Polska Energia.

I’m thrilled that the TAURON Group will accompany us again in our journey through all the states of cinema — even more so since our summer sister festival has also received a fresh boost of good energy from our title partner. We hope to meet our audiences’ expectations by presenting diverse voices of independent American cinema and welcome everyone on this trip, says Ula Śniegowska, director of AFF.

The programme of the 17th TAURON American Film Festival will feature the best selection of new gems of independent film from the United States, artistically exquisite Hollywood productions, documentaries, premieres straight from prime international festivals, standout genre movies, legendary classics, and works of world-acclaimed masters of cinema. We’ll reveal the first program details early in August, after this year’s New Horizons Festival (July 23–August 2), while information regarding opening of festival pass-sales will be announced soon.
