10th US in Progress Winners Announced

US in Progress 2022 awards

In the 10th online edition of US in Progress Wrocław industry program (November 11th-13th) taking place in the frame of the 11th American Film Festival 9 projects were presented. All were eligible for the post-production in-kind awards (post-production services sponsored by the partners of the programme).

The projects are receiving the following awards:

Disfluency by Anna Baumgarten, prod. Danny Mooney, Elaine Hastings Edell, Anna Baumgarten, Jim Cummings (EP), Ben Wiessner (EP), Alex Rudolph (EP)

  • Ale kino+ television rights offer 

Have a Nice Life by Prashanth Kamalakanthan, prod. Artemis Shaw

  • post-production services up to $10 000 from Orka Studio 

Homebody by Joseph Sackett, prod. Joy Jorgensen

  • digital post-production services up to the value of $10 000 from Fixafilm 
  • Match&Spark will offer consultancy services for co production with Poland

Kendra and Beth by Dean Peterson, prod. Reilly Myklebust, Dean Peterson

  • $1000 round trip ticket to Poland from New Horizons Association for the 12th American Film Festival

Ludi by Edson Jean, prod. Fabiola Rodriguez, Mark Pulaski

  • digital post-production services up to the value of $10 000 from Fixafilm 
  • music composition or sound design up to $10 000  from Maciej Zieliński Soundflower Studio 

Superior by Erin Vassilopoulos, prod. Benjamin Cohen, Grant Curatola, Patrick Donovan

  • color grading up to the value of $10 000 from ColorOffOn

  • music composition or sound design up to $10 000 from Maciej Zieliński Soundflower Studio 

To The Moon by Scott Friend, prod. Cate Smierciak, Everett Hendler, Stephanie Randall, Gabe Wilson

  • $10,000 cash prize for post production in Poland from the director of the Polish Film Institute

We’re All Going to the World’s Fair by Jane Schoenbrun, prod. Sarah Winshall, Carlos Zozaya

  • free registration at producers’ network during 2020 Cannes Marche du Film for the producer 

The awards execution will be negotiated with project producers individually on the basis of the studio’s availability.

Besides presenting the projects to the professional audiences, the producers of the above projects took part in online one on one meetings with European festival programmers, sales agents and distributors as well as less formal meetings. 

The 2020 edition of US in Progress included presentations of Polish projects’ seeking American partners 

The Polish-American Co-production meetings also featured presentations of Polish co-production incentives, as well as three panel discussions. The first panel featured experienced Polish producer, Ewa Puszczyńska (Cold War, Ida), Dylan Leiner (Sony Pictures Classics), Maren Olson and Kat Moncrief from CAA, as well as Derek Kigongo from Paradigm Talent Agency and discussed challenges of transatlantic collaboration. The second panel was a case study of Jan Komasa’s Academy Award-nominated Corpus Christi with Hilda Somarriba (PrismMedia), Anna Kot (Aurum Film) and Ewa Bojanowska (New Europe Film Sales). The third was a case study on the critically acclaimed Hopper/Welles with producer Filip Jan Rymsza (The Other Side of the Wind, Mosquito State) and Gosia Grzyb and Wojtek Janio of Fixafilm. 

US in Progress is organized with the support of The Polish Film Institute and Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, American Embassy and in partnership with the Polish Producers Alliance and Wroclaw Film Commission.
