This documentary about the ”first lady of folk” alternates between examining Joan Baez’s social activism and the price she paid for it. It is also a story of repressed memories and deeply hidden traumas that marked her forever.
Karen O’Connor is an award-winning film producer. For over 20 years she has worked together with Miri Navasky. They co-directed several documentaries, including the Emmy-nominated The New Asylums (2015), which won the Robert F. Kennedy Grand Prize Journalism Award. Their latest production, Joan Baez I Am A Noise, premiered at this year's Berlinale.

Maeve O’Boyle is an award-winning producer and film editor. She directed the documentary The Education of Mohammad Hussein (2012), which was shortlisted for the Oscar, and the Emmy-winning Firestone and the Warlord (2014). O’Boyle co-directed of The 8th, a 2020 film about the campaign to overturn the eighth amendment of the Irish constitution banning abortion that had passed in 1983 via referendum.
