American indie rock legend Pavement features in this Alex Ross Perry film that freely blends truth with fiction, resulting in a genre hybrid that sits at the intersection of documentary, mockumentary, and musical biopic. In addition to the band members, the film includes appearances from Joe Perry, Jason Schwartzman, and Perry himself.
Alex Ross Perry, born in 1984 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, is a film director, screenwriter, and actor. He graduated from the film faculty at New York University. After graduation, Perry worked at a video rental store in the East Village for two years, where he met many of his later collaborators, including cinematographer Sean Price Williams. In 2009, Perry directed his full-length debut Impolex, which was inspired by Thomas Pynchon's iconic Gravity's Rainbow. His subsequent films have screened at prestigious festivals like Sundance, Berlinale, and Locarno IFF. In addition to his films, Perry regularly directs music videos. His body of work was highlighted in a retrospective at the 14th American Film Festival.
