Meeting with Katherine Stewart about her book The Power Worshippers. Inside The Dangerous Rise Of Religious Nationalism
host: Andrzej Rossa
interpreter: Kasia Janusik
the author will be connecting online
In her book The Power Worshippers, author Katherine Stewart travels across the United States, from California to North Carolina. She talks to participants of pro-life marches, attends far-right conventions, and tracks money flows and international alliances. Stewart also delves into history, presenting profiles of the first evangelical radicals and demonstrating their long march through institutions. The Power Worshippers is a shocking journalistic investigation and a warning at a time when religious fundamentalists are becoming increasingly adept at navigating the political mainstream.
Katherine Stewart is an American journalist who has covered the rise of the anti-democratic movement for over 16 years. Her book, The Power Worshippers: Inside the Dangerous Rise of Religious Nationalism, won first place in the nonfiction books category from the Religion News Association, as well as the Morris B. Forkosch Best Book Award. The Power Worshippers formed the basis of the documentary God & Country, produced by Rob and Michele Reiner, with Stewart serving as executive producer. Stewart’s writing has appeared in The New York, The New Republic, and the Religion News Service, among others.
