Lost Transmissions

Lost Bayou Mickey and the Bear

Hannah (Juno Temple) is a talented songwriter who is taking her first steps in show business. When she meets a music producer named Theo (Simon Pegg), who has enjoyed numerous successes (and even more parties in the 1990s), her door into the music world starts to open. At this point, the relationship between the young American woman and the experienced Englishman could develop into a love story or a musical adventure. But Lost Transmissions goes in another direction: Theo begins behaving strangely, and Hannah doesn’t know how to help him. Delusions, paranoia, and aggression get in the way of genuine affection. How will he deal with this? How will she? And will their relationship be able to handle it? Katharine O’Brien’s full-length debut, which was based on her family’s struggles with mental illness, is at times warm and empathetic, at other times terrifying, but it never stops surprising.
