Alice Winocour, USA, Germany 2019, 107’
Polish premiere
Midsommar – Director’s Cut The Other Side of the Wind

A young mother and an accomplished astronaut, Sarah (Eva Green), prepares for a year-long space mission. Initially as a backup, it turns out that she might be a part of the main crew. She has some time to get used to the idea of leaving her daughter and to prepare the little girl for the longest separation in her brief life. Still, Sarah’s own preparation leaves a lot to be desired. Even though her ex-husband (Lars Eidinger) helps a lot, more and more doubts arise. Winocour has accustomed fans of her tales that she cares about every single detail and authenticity but she also creates multi-layered relationships between the characters. Proxima is no different, with a feminist verve and the music of legendary Ryuichi Sakamoto. Screen Daily wrote that Eva Green puts in a career best performance . . .[in] a significant, ambitious and entirely impressive film by a dazzling young French director in full command of her ship.
