Prisoners of the Ghostland

This project is like a dream come true for a blasé midnight movie fan who, after years of enjoying film curiosities, realizes that the only thing he hasn’t seen is Nicolas Cage in a Sion Sono film. And here it is, a collaboration between the leading eccentric of Japanese cinema and the most expressive American actor, with a result that brings an expectedly peculiar variation on the theme of Escape from New York. A criminal forced to extract a missing girl from the post-apocalyptic Ghostland is to be kept in check by a special explosive-laden outfit (including on his crotch), to protect the lady from any non-chivalrous behavior. It sounds funny, but looks far more serious Prisoners of the Ghostland is the story of a man confronted with his dark side.
