It was supposed to be the perfect weekend getaway. Iris (Molly Gordon) and her boyfriend Isaac (Logan Lerman), a couple just four months into their relationship, rent a picture-perfect cabin surrounded by fields, meadows, woods, and a quiet lake. Stocked up on a truly lascivious supply of strawberries, they spend their days away from the noise and distractions of the outside world. They eat, drink, read, dance in the moonlight, and have sex. They're trying to get to know each other better. As the idyllic vibe settles in, they decide to experiment a little. When they find a set of BDSM accessories in the bedroom, they decide to bring them into their play. Everything seems wrapped in a kind of romantic magic, until one of them confesses they’re not actually looking for a serious relationship. In her second feature, writer-director Sophie Brooks explores the millennial psyche: their aspirations, ideas about modern relationships, and deep longing for connection. What starts out as a laid-back romantic comedy gradually morphs into a darkly humorous, if soft-edged, psychothriller in the spirit of Rob Reiner’s Misery (1990).
Born in London, raised in Los Angeles, and now based in New York, Sophie Brooks is a screenwriter, director, and producer. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, she made her feature debut with The Boy Downstairs (2017), which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Her second film, Oh, Hi!
