Saturday at the Festival: 44 screenings and 12 meetings

Friday at the Festival: 43 screenings, 11 Q&As, and a discussion 13th US in Progress Winners Announced

Quirky? Absurd? Cutting-edge? If so, it’s just the right fit for the American Film Festival! Today, we draw your attention to avant-garde gems crafted by the ingenious Man Ray – a filmmaker who inspired generations of directors. At 4:00 PM, we’ll present Return to Reason – a set of four digitally restored works by Ray, accompanied by the music of the SQÜRL band (Jim Jarmusch and Carter Logan).

Today is also the last chance to cast your votes for your favorites from the Spectrum and American Docs competition sections, after the film screenings. This year's winners will be announced tomorrow at 6:00 PM during the festival's Closing Gala.

Saturday at the festival offers a choice of 44 screenings and 12 meetings with guests. We particularly recommend the Q&A session with Adele Romanski, this year’s Indie Star Award recipient (alongside Alex Ross Perry). And don’t miss The New Civil War discussion with Charlie Sadoff following the screening of Against All Enemies at 12:30 PM. Łukasz Pawłowski and Piotr Tarczyński, hosts of the “American Podcast (Podkast amerykański)”, will moderate the conversation. It’s a pleasure to collaborate with them, and we’ve been doing so for years!

The New Civil War: a discussion with Charlie Sadoff

What lies behind the surging popularity of extreme paramilitary organizations in the US? Was the January 2021 attack on the Capitol merely an isolated incident, or a harbinger of more dangerous events to come? Could the United States be on the brink of a new civil war, or is it already unfolding before our eyes? These probing questions will be at the center of today’s discussion with Charlie Sadoff, immediately following the screening of Against All Enemies (12:30 PM). The conversation will be moderated by Piotr Tarczyński and Łukasz Pawłowski, the hosts of the “American Podcast (Podkast amerykański)”, Poland’s most popular podcast on American politics, history, and social issues.

Aff-ter Parties | Recepcja and DOBRO

Saturday signifies dancing, or Aff-ter Parties, held at Recepcja and DOBRO clubs (located in the neon-lit courtyard at Ruska 46a). All the cinematic excitement deserves to be danced off, especially as the festival is slowly drawing to a close. Starting at 9:00 PM at Recepcja, DJ Feel-X will be manning the decks. All those with tickets, passes, or accreditations on hand will receive a 10% discount at the bars.

Sneak peek: Festival Sunday

This is no ordinary Sunday, it’s the Festival Sunday. But we won’t be parting ways just yet – tomorrow, we’ll be heading home (late evening), where the festival adventure continues with online screenings on NH VOD (until November 19). But! Before that, immerse yourself in a full day of film experiences: 43 screenings at the New Horizons Cinema, meetings with guests, the Closing Gala – where we’ll announce the winners of the audience vote – and, for the grand finale, screenings of the award-winning films (American Docs winner at 9:00 PM, and Spectrum at 9:30 PM).
