The 10th American Film Festival has a new date. Movie submissions are open

Winners of the 9th American Film Festival in Wrocław Have Been Announced Submissions: US in Progress Wrocław and Paris edition

American Film Festival will take place between 5th and 11th of November 2019.

This year marks the 10th edition of the American Film Festival held in Wrocław. Due to its significance this year's festival will last whole 7 days. Behold - an entire week of films, discussions and special events. It will be a true celebration of independent American cinema - an excellent opportunity to both discover fresh talent and honor masters of the craft.

One of the characteristic features of the American Film Festival is a competition separated into two segments, where the audience becomes the jury. The audience award will be granted to the movies in such categories as: feature film - SPECTRUM segment, where the reward is 10 thousand dollars, and documentary - AMERICAN DOCS segment, with a 5 thousand dollar reward.

Movie submission period for this year's festival has begun - both for the competition and the ON THE EDGE segment featuring original films that fall outside of conventional cinematography.

Submission form

Since its very inception the goal of the American Film Festival is to discover and showcase films that the audience gravitates to at independent festivals. An example of such is the recent, well received film Dollhouse: The Eradication of Female Subjectivity in American Popular Culture.

The movie had its world premiere at the 9th American Film Festival. The movie's director - Nicole Brending - won the main award at one of the largest independent movie festivals in the USA - Slamdance 2019. Małgorzata Sadowska from the New Horizons Association described the film as a feminist bomb hidden inside the light-hearted, humorous form of a puppet animation, a satire on American pop culture and misogyny-based mechanisms of producing female stars and the clichés of documentary cinema.
