Jesse Eisenberg Picks Up Indie Star Award at American Film Festival Sunday at the Festival: 41 screenings, 4 Q&A sessions, and the awards gala

Innovative, revealing, groundbreaking. These words describe both the classics from nearly a century ago and the debs of the season. Festival Saturday starts with an (un)obvious combination: the pioneering works of Dorothy Arzner and the gems in the competition sections – Breakthrough and American Docs

These films truly capture the festival’s vibrant spirit. So, plan a day with the Arzner retrospective, featuring Dance, Girl, Dance (7:15 pm) and Working Girls (9:45 pm), and don’t miss the competition films, where you can still vote for your favorites.

Saturday in a nutshell

45 screenings, 9 Q&A sessions with filmmakers, a curatorial tour at Studio BWA Wrocław, and the Marcin Giżycki and his America exhibition in the New Horizons Cinema space.

Curatorial tour of Lora Webb Nichols’ photography exhibition: I Wish I Was a Yellow Dog | 3:00 pm

Nearly twenty-four thousand photographs documenting the lives of pioneer families from Encampment, a town in southern Wyoming, have been preserved in the archives of Lora Webb Nichols. This unique testimony to a time and place in the early 20th century in the Wild West has been rescued from oblivion by Nancy Anderson. Spanning three eras and following the lives of three women, the exhibition – accompanying the 15th American Film Festival – combines elements of a photo album, reportage, letters, diaries, and a fact-based novel. Join us for the opening at Studio BWA Wrocław. Free admission, subject to availability.
