Dear Hunter, dir. Michael Cimino
6/11/25

Let's get started! First day of the 16th TAURON American Film Festival.

And what happens off screen? Accompanying events at the 16th TAURON AFF Friday at the festival

The quiet, peaceful suburbs featured in this year’s visual identity will soon be a thing of the past. Starting today, the New Horizons Cinema (KNH) will fill with the joyful buzz of people who love good cinema (that’s you!). It’s our favorite moment of November—one we look forward to all year. We’re officially kicking off the 16th TAURON American Film Festival! Ahead of us lie 137 films, six days of screenings in cinemas (through November 11), and, for those who can’t make it, the online edition running until November 23.

What’s on the first day?

Tickets for tonight’s festival opening—Jim Jarmusch's FATHER MOTHER SISTER BROTHER—are sold out, but don’t despair: grab an Open Ticket and join the line before the screening. If seats free up, you might still get in. You can also catch other fantastic titles today at the New Horizons Cinema, plus dozens of films online. Tickets are still available for: Sorry, Baby (6:30 p.m.); Lynch/Oz (6:45 p.m.); SubUrbia (6:45 p.m.); After This Death (9:00 p.m.) and The Rocky Horror Picture Show (9:15 p.m.).

Bring the festival home: online screenings

Top Floor Bar and AFF-ter parties | tonight behind the console: Tycjana

This year we offer a closed-party circuit: after your evening screening, head up to the Top Floor Bar (2nd floor, New Horizons Cinema, KNH), open daily from 9 p.m. (except November 11). Unwind, listen to good music, meet good people, and dance a little (or a lot)—all without leaving the cinema. No need to hit the town tonight—the town’s already come to KNH. We’re reviving the legendary AFF-ter parties, and tonight Tycjana kicks things off with a festival DJ set. Starts at 9:30 p.m., free admission (just show your daily ticket or pass/accreditation). If you’re coming just for the party, use the side entrance from Św. Antoniego Street.

Shall we dance?

Merch: wear yourself in AFF style

Erupcja in your head? Protect it with a festival cap or cozy beanie. Sling a tote bag that can hold your entire suburbia, proudly pin on a star, sip coffee from your new favorite Studio Zakwas mug (we bet it’ll become your favorite), and you’re ready to go full AFF style. Try to change our minds: this year’s merch is stunning.

Merch has been made great again!

Recommended spots: tasty, plenty, and discounted

Don’t forget to balance your film intake with some calories. As usual, we’ve curated a list of nearby gems where you can eat and drink well—and with your ticket, pass, or accreditation, enjoy special discounts and festival offers.

Enjoy!

Free-for-all: free events (with invitations)

Festival Friday

On the second day of AFF, we invite you to 43 screenings at the New Horizons Cinema, seven meetings with filmmakers—including Susan Seidelman, the subject of this year’s retrospective. The day also features a Filmweb-curated discussion Comedy at the Beginning of the Millennium, a film quiz with Twoja Stara, and, late in the evening, an AFF-ter party to the rhythm of the Freaks and Geeks section.

Meetings and Q&As

You can find the full list of guests on our website. Each day, we’ll send newsletters with updates on the day’s meetings, but we also encourage you to check the program—look for the distinctive speech bubble icon in the calendar: it means that the screening will be followed by a Q&A.

Who will we meet in Wrocław?

Chillout Zone | relax with Pranamat

All states of cinema are beautiful and diverse, but we know that they can be overwhelming. If you are looking for some calm and quiet between screenings, you’ll find a relaxation zone on the 1st floor of the New Horizons Cinema (Nov 7-11, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.), created in partnership with Pranamat. Recharge with massage sets, meditation poufs, and noise-canceling headphones—free to use in 30-minute sessions (limited spots). And if you’d like to recreate the vibe at home, visit the Pranamat store for festival discounts.
