One phrase that captures the essence of the 14th American Film Festival (and, on top of that, ties in with this year’s agricultural visual identity)? Abundance! We’re about to embark on nearly two weeks of the finest American cinema, featuring 126 films, including 63 making their debut in Poland. That’s almost 10,000 minutes of captivating screenings, numerous engaging discussions with fantastic guests, and a variety of accompanying events.
We’re beginning this exciting journey with the screening of Kristoffer Borgli’s Dream Scenario at 6:30 PM. The festival will run at the New Horizons Cinema until November 12, and for those who prefer home viewing, the cinematic experience can continue until November 19 through online screenings on the NH VOD platform.
A date with Nicolas Cage in Dream Scenario is just one of the ideas for the opening day of the festival. Later in the day, you can catch screenings of Noah Schamus’ Summer Solstice (7:00 PM), Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon (7:00 PM), Eliza Hittman’s Never Rarely Sometimes Always (7:30 PM), Sav Rodgers’ Chasing Chasing Amy (7:30 PM), or Rachel Lambert’s Sometimes I Think About Dying (8:00 PM). Following the Dream Scenario screening (around 9:00 PM), the New Horizons Cinema will be hosting Bartosz Weber, a multi-instrumentalist and DJ, who will curate a set of favorite soundtracks to enhance your evening.
Tonight, we have the pleasure of welcoming two special guests of the festival: Adele Romanski and Alex Ross Perry. During the Opening Gala, they will be presented with the Indie Star Awards. In the subsequent days, you’ll have the opportunity to engage with them during Q&A sessions and masterclasses (Romanski: November 8, following the screening of Aftersun at 4:45 PM; Perry: November 9 at 7:00 PM; Alex Ross Perry Masteclass & Secret Screening).
“Little America” aptly describes Wroclaw from November 7 to 12, as the city will play host to numerous representatives of the American film world. We invite you to keep an eye out for opportunities to meet these esteemed festival guests, who will participate in Q&A sessions following selected screenings (designated with a distinctive speech bubble symbol in the program).

Later in the evening, we invite you to the Recepcja and DOBRO clubs in the neon-lit courtyard at 46a Ruska Street. There, you will be able to discuss film impressions over drinks, both with and without percentages. Starting on Thursday, November 9, you can also enjoy live music. Tomorrow the Reading America series of literary talks will begin. We are delighted to collaborate on these events with the Wrocław Literature House, Czarne Publishing House, and the “Książki. Magazyn do Czytania”. Moreover, in partnership with Galeria Dominikańska, we invite you for a Silent Disco, which will start on Wednesday, November 8, at 11:00 PM in the mall space.
